Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled, design-driven Architectural Wall & Commercial Workplace Designer with expertise in demountable partition systems and integrated commercial furniture. In this role, you will lead the technical execution and visual development of corporate interiors for major U.S. commercial projects.
Working within CET Commercial Interiors (Configura), you will bridge the gap between interior architecture and furniture specification, transforming client requirements into buildable, high-performance environments. You will partner directly with U.S. sales teams, A&D representatives, and project managers to deliver fast-turnaround visual presentations, accurate bids, and detailed installation documentation for major industry brands (Haworth, Steelcase, Teknion, Kimball).
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Wall Design & Detailing: Design, specify, and engineer demountable architectural wall systems, glass storefronts, and acoustic partitions integrated with systems furniture layouts.
- Technical & Structural Coordination: Ensure wall solutions seamlessly integrate with base-building conditions, including slab-to-slab heights, drop ceiling grids, MEP/HVAC offsets, electrical feeds, and structural interfaces.
- Space Planning & CET Modeling: Utilize CET Commercial Interiors and AutoCAD to produce space plans, 3D layouts, elevation profiles, section details, and photorealistic renderings.
- Code & Standards Compliance: Align all designs with commercial building codes, ADA clearances, LEED sustainability criteria, and WELL acoustic/daylighting standards.
- Specification & Pricing Accuracy: Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOM), perform double-checks using ProjectSpec or CAP Studio, Hedberg, Khameleon, NetSuite etc., and apply appropriate discounting structures to eliminate specification errors.
- Installation Documentation: Prepare comprehensive, field-ready installation packages—including wall connection details, power/data location plans, keying schedules, and finish schedules.
- Field Problem Solving: Review field measurements and architectural base drawings to identify potential job-site conflicts and resolve issues impacting system integration prior to order placement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with sales leaders, A&D clients, general contractors, and technical partners to deliver winning client pitches and ensure smooth project execution.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Interior Architecture, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in commercial interiors, contract furniture dealerships, or architectural wall systems.
- Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in CET Commercial Interiors (Configura) is required. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, ProjectSpec/CAP Studio, and Microsoft Office 365.
- System Knowledge: In-depth understanding of demountable glass partition systems, modular architectural interiors, and systems furniture applications from major manufacturers (Haworth, Steelcase, Teknion, Kimball, etc.).
- Technical Acumen: Solid understanding of acoustic privacy (STC ratings), ceiling/floor attachment details, building codes (ADA), and MEP integration.
- Communication & Work Environment: Strong English communication skills (written and spoken) with confidence working in a client-facing, U.S.-focused remote environment.
- Remote Setup: Dedicated, quiet home office with high-speed internet and availability to work standard U.S. business hours (EST, CST, or PST).
