About the job

Job Summary:
The Healthcare Designer bridges clinical functionality and architectural design. Operating as part of an independent, open-line dealership and consultancy network (working across top lines like Kimball, HNI, Bernhardt, OFS/Carolina, Nucraft, and medical vendors), this role translates medical equipment needs, room matrices, and clinical workflows into accurate, fully coordinated BIM models and interior space plans. Working alongside architects, equipment planners, and clinical teams, you will ensure spaces are safe, compliant, and optimized for patient care and medical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • BIM Modeling & Space Planning: Place, space-plan, and model medical equipment and interior FF&E within architectural Revit models for clinical spaces (exam rooms, procedure spaces, labs, and imaging areas).
  • Workflow & Access Coordination: Verify equipment clearances, spatial flow, and accessibility requirements while integrating manufacturer documentation and clinical guidelines.
  • Database & Spec Synchronization: Coordinate and maintain equipment lists, finishes, and product specifications across Revit models and medical planning software (e.g., Attainia).
  • Vendor & Open-Line Specification: Leverage a broad, multi-vendor portfolio to select and specify appropriate, compliant FF&E solutions for corporate, healthcare, and education environments.
  • Cross-Discipline Alignment: Review Bluebeam markups and work directly with MEP engineers, architects, contractors, and vendors to eliminate spatial conflicts with walls, doors, casework, and utility connections.
  • Deliverable Production: Prepare tagged equipment plans, finish schedules, cost estimates, and submittal packages for project leadership and client presentations.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field with 2–5 years of experience in interior space planning, BIM coordination, or healthcare facility design.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit. Hands-on experience with Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and medical inventory tools like Attainia.
  • Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of architectural construction documents, clinical workflows, and basic healthcare codes/clearance standards.
  • Core Strengths: Exceptional detail orientation, strong spatial problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • US Architectural & Healthcare Experience
  • Technical & Tool Requirements
  • English & Communication Skills
